Understanding the MVP Program

MVP program awards the highest finishing players (top shooters) in each skill level tier in the entire LA & North OC APA league for 8-Ball and 9-Ball divisions, and the overall highest finishing player in Ladies League division with awards.

Highest finishing player will be determined by their PA percentage score at the end of regular session play.  PA percentage score is calculated by taking the total points earned and divide it by the total points available for all matches played by that individual in the regular session for that division.

To be eligible for the award, players must meet the minimum match requirement (6), and must be on a LA & North OC APA roster for the following session.

  • 8 Ball Example: There are 3 points available for each 8-Ball individual match. If a player plays ten (10) individual matches during the session, there are 30 total points available. In those 10 matches, the player earned 18 points, their PA percentage score is 60%.
  • 9 Ball Example: There are 20 points available for each 9-Ball individual match. If a player plays ten (10) individual matches during the session, there are 200 total points available. In those 10 matches, the player earned 165 points, their PA percentage score is 82.5%.

Ties will be broken in the following order using regular session play data:
  1. Total number of matches played during the session
  2. Session win percentage
  3. Session performance points
  4. Lifetime win percentage.
